A Super Visa is something that is there for those parents and grandparents who wish to visit family in Canada. In other words, those that apply for a visa must be grandparents or parents of Canadian Citizens. Those not eligible include dependents of the parents or grandparents. You can apply to visit family and stay for up to two years, and not have to make a status renewal. The Super Visa can allow single or more than one entry into the country and is valid for up to ten years.

There are certain requirements and one of them is, you have to have Insurance. Those that apply for a Super Visa must acquire Medical Insurance that is from a Canadian Company. The Medical Insurance should be valid for at least one year.

The Insurance should cover things like:

  • The minimum cover amount of $100 000
  • The Insurance should cover medical Care

  • Repatriation

Out of province Travel Insurance, is just that, it is insurance that covers you if you find yourself traveling out of your province or even out of the country itself. You do have a Provincial Health care Plan, but does it cover everything at a national level? The answer is, you will find that the health coverage is different across the country and in each province. You might be able to have partial coverage, but you will have to pay the rest out of pocket.

Some of the things you might have to pay for yourself include:

  • Medical transport, both road and air.
  • Any prescription drugs
  • Dental emergencies

When traveling, you don’t want to have to worry about extra, unexpected expenses. You may only be traveling to another province but remember you might not have the same health care cover.
